Zithromax (generic name: Azithromycin)
Zithromax is an antibiotic related to erythromycin. It is prescribed for adults to treat certain mild to moderate skin infections; upper and lower respiratory tract infections, including pharyngitis (strep throat), tonsillitis, worsening of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and pneumonia; sexually transmitted infections of the cervix or urinary tract; and genital ulcer disease in men. In children, Zithromax is used to treat middle ear infection, pneumonia, tonsillitis, and strep throat.

    How to take Zithromax
Take Zithromax exactly as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these instructions then ask your pharmacist or doctor to explain them to you. Take each tablet with a full glass of water. Zithromax tablets can be taken with or without food. Take all of the Zithromax that has been prescribed for you.

    Missed dose of Zithromax
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next regularly scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and take the next one as directed. Do not take a double dose of Zithromax to cover up for the mixed dose.

    Overdose of Zithromax
Symptoms of an Zithromax overdose include abdominal discomfort, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Seek emergency medical attention immediately.
